The dynamics of pluralism and hate

On CNN.com right now there is a picture of someone holding a sign that says "Stop the Islamization of America Wake up!" and it got me to thinking that boy, there is always some creeping threat to good decent folk that some lunatic will shout that we have to wake up to. One that sticks in my mind for having similar phraseology to the pictured sign is the dread conservatives feel over "the feminization of the American male." Its strange how the idea these reactionary blowhards have of the true American character is somehow the exact opposite of so many diverse things. I would think that if our xenophobic culturally backward countrymen are currently riled up about Islam they could embrace feminism, as its an ideology that is fairly antithetical to the tenants of Islam, and is one of those oft cited "reasons they hate us." But nope, the same bigot would likely tell you in the same breath that he is the exact opposite of an Islamic radical and a Feminist, and in some paranoid Berchian contortion of a strawman argument he would be able to tell you how Islam and Feminism support one another in the destruction of his way of life.
