Arizona has recently been cited in the annual US report to the UN on our compliance with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Because, you know, the deporting brown people bill is a pretty clear violation of human rights. In a letter to the whitehouse about the report submitted to the UN our governor, Jan Brewer, called our compliance with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights "unconstitutional." Which is pretty funny if you're a human being. I hate how the current breed of rightwinger likes to throw that accusation around so casually when referring to processes specifically stipulated by, or allowed for in the constitution. There are people calling the overturning of California's prop 8 by a federal judge unconstitutional which may be even more silly than this. Apparently articlel 3 is too deep into the constitution for people of their mental stamina? I'd just like to bring up the point that the constitution specifically makes itself subordinate to international treaties that the president has the power to make, so calling an international treaty unconstitutional is sort of missing the point.
