Karl Rove has warned Rick Perry to stay away from the "fringe" birther movement. One might presume that Rove was mistaken in calling the movement fringe, since just weeks ago many polls found that over 60% of republicans believed that the president was not born in the US, but frankly I think the republican base believes what they are told on a day to day basis and Rove understands his role in that process. So he says that it's a fringe movement, and that will become the narrative, and eventually the numbers will follow suit.
