This "stand your ground" law is actually surprisingly progressive for Florida. This sort of murder with impunity is a right usually only afforded to the police of other states. The problem is that while the facts seem to show that the murderer in this case was clearly not in a situation that gave him the right to murder even by the letter of the law, he was at least permitted to kill that boy in the spirit of the law.
