Curiosity is a new series of science shows on the Discovery channel which will feature numerous celebrity scientists talking about their fields. The first episode is dedicated to the question "Did God Create the Universe?" and features Stephen Hawking. The answer is an unequivocal "no." I approve. And though such a show could only be green-lit these days because scientists like Stephen Hawking have been getting great ratings due to the controversy of their outspoken avocation of the scientific worldview, I do hope things like this can help cause a cultural shift that destroys the dirt stupid anti-science forces causing such turmoil in the US.

I'm not crazy, right?
Aug. 11th, 2011 10:51 pmWhen you let a guitar sit, its strings go flat, right? You have to tighten them to get them back in tune? I was working on the D string, tightening it nearly a whole octave and it just got painful to turn the knob. My fingers still ache. But I kept going because I basically thought that tuning a disused guitar involves tightening the strings, for sure. The string snapped before my fingers did, so that's good. Could it have gone sharp while I didn't touch it? How the hell am I going to tell the difference between a sharp string and a flat one now? I guess when its painful to tighten it, turn around and go the other way?
