A final thought on Assassin's Creed II
Apr. 14th, 2010 09:14 pmSo in the end of the game you learn of the terrible secret of space, which overshadows the endless war between assassins and Illuminati. I suspect that a key revelation in the forthcoming third installment of the game will expose the external, extra terrestrial threat as a red herring, and reveal the true enemy as the superego, which will have the result of equivocating both the assassins and the Illuminati as glorious, or pitiful rebels against this force, probably supplemented by historical examples of Illuminati and assassins switching sides multiple times in the superficial level of their conflict. After this event, the metanarative's protagonist, Desmond, will likely loose his sense of self in a catastrophic integration of all of his ancestral memories, allowing him to avert the eschaton, for he is some sort of transcended level of human development, capable of graceful postmodern navel gazing.
