This is my big plan. Put 5k into the Vanguard 500 index fund and watch it turn into 50k over five years or something like that. I believe it may happen this way. Even if it does not move at such near miraculous windfall speeds this is an excellent time to buy into such an index fund, because of how low the index is, compared to where it aught to be. Over the long term an investment now, barring the collapse of the entire US, is going to pay off. We are in the recession before the next boom now, and I encourage you to take advantage in this conservative manor, if such is your want.
