(AP) -- Stem cell researchers reacted with enthusiasm and reservations to a report that scientists have found stem cells in amniotic fluid, a discovery that would allow them to sidestep the controversy over destroying embryos for research.

OMG that isn't even funny, millions of my brothers and sisters died that way! But no one will point out that each and every one of those free floating stem cells is capable of becoming another person. Why, my own brother (one of the few to survive) was once a free floating glob of stem cells that had split off from the main cluster (naturally me). In fact, with current cloning techniques every single cell in your body is potentially an embryo. Everyone should be require to walk around smeared in a gel to collect fallen cells which can then be processed into new people.

This "new discovery" is actually just a new way to market stem cell research in the US. I have no specific knowledge that it is not a new discovery at all, but I strongly suspect it. It's just a new angle to try to acquire funding. Why can't we just be reasonable people and make embryos for stem cell research and tell the religious fanatics that it's not a person 'till its a person. Maybe we can't agree on when exactly that is, but when its just a microscopic cluster of cells its not a person yet, sorry.
